US: Chicago PMI plummets to 47.1 points in August, below forecasts
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Industrial activity in the Chicago area is slowing down. The Chicago PMI index, which measures trends in business and manufacturing activity, fell to 47.1 points in August, down from 57.6 the previous month, against expectations of a reading of 58 points. A reading below 50 points indicates a slowdown in economic activity, whilst a figure above 50 points signals an improvement in conditions.
