US: weekly crude oil stocks up by 0.095 million barrels to 428.91 million; estimates were for an increase of 0.5 million

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Last week, oil stocks in the United States rose slightly, but by less than expected. A rise of 0.095 million barrels to 428.91 million barrels was recorded, according to data released by the Department of Energy, whilst expectations had been for an increase of 0.5 million. Petrol stocks fell by 2.536 million barrels to 206.842 million barrels, compared with expectations of a fall of 1.3 million barrels. Distillate stocks, which include heating oil, fell by 2.228 million barrels to 103.391 million barrels, compared with estimates of a fall of 1.1 million barrels. Refinery capacity utilisation rose from 97.2 per cent to 97.4 per cent, whilst the market had expected 97.1 per cent.
