US: Dallas Fed manufacturing index jumps to 11.6 points in August, exceeding expectations

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - In the United States, the manufacturing index for the Dallas (Texas) area improved in August compared with the previous month, and by far more than expected. According to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, the manufacturing activity index – a key measure of conditions in the sector within the US state – rose from 1.3 to 11.6, against expectations of a reading of 1.6. The production figure improved from 10.1 to 16.1. A figure below zero indicates a contraction in the sector; conversely, a figure above zero indicates expansion.
