Kamala Harris has cashed in on the endorsement from Senate and House Dem leaders Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries. "We are with her," they said at a press conference. "Harris has energized and energized the Democrats," Jeffries said.
In the first poll since Joe Biden withdrew from the White House race, Donald Trump's lead is narrowing sharply with Kamala Harris, still not officially invested with the nomination, just two points behind the tycoon. This is what emerges from the poll published on 23 July by Morning Consult that gives Trump at 47% and the vice president at 45%. In the last poll conducted by the same company, between 15 and 17 July, the former president had a four-point lead over the Democratic president, with 46% against 42%.
In another poll Harris is even ahead of Trump 44% to 42%, according to the Reuters-Ipsos survey (published on the agency's website) among registered voters, with a margin of error of 3%. In a three-way race, Harris leads with 42%, compared to 38% for the tycoon and 8% for Robert F. Kennedy.
Hailing for Harris at his first rally
Standing ovation and 'Kamala, Kamala' choruses at West Allis Central High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where Kamala Harris took the stage for her first rally as a Dem presidential candidate since Joe Biden withdrew from the race.
"I will proudly put my story against Donald Trump," he said. "He wants to take our country back but we will not back down because our fight is for the future and freedom. Consolidating the middle class will be the main goal of my presidency," he added.
