US, trade deficit more than halved in April due to tariffs

The US trade deficit, one of President Donald Trump's main concerns, fell to $61.6 billion in April, an even steeper drop than economists had predicted. It had jumped to a record $140.5 billion in March, with companies rushing to stockpile in anticipation of tariffs. Then the entry into force of the tariffs significantly reduced imports.
