Valditara: almost 50 per cent of precarious support teachers will be confirmed

So said Education and Merit Minister Giuseppe Valditara during his speech at the Rimini Meeting.

"A country cannot call itself civilised as long as many children abandon compulsory schooling," Valditara added. Citing the Invalsi results and speaking of school drop-outs, the minister stressed that "we have already exceeded the target set by the EU for 2030, we are at 8.3 per cent, with a fall in explicit drop-out. In this, the Caivano decree and the South and North Agendas have played an important role. We have recovered thousands of young people who no longer went to school in the past'.

Valditara then announced that 1,000 specialised teachers would be hired to teach Italian to foreign students.

The head of MIM also said: 'The 4+2 reform, I believe, must become ordinal'. According to Valditara, 'a school that does not know how to also educate for work, that does not give the tools to realise oneself professionally, only does half its job'.
