Digital monitoring, Valditara: '90% of schools have complied with the mobile phone ban in class'
Specific training courses for professors will also start shortly with Indire to implement the new guidelines on civic education for teaching proper smartphone and social media management
The monitoring promoted by the Ministry of Education and Merit on the use of digital technology in secondary schools, carried out in the school year 2025/2026 also in order to define support and accompanying measures, shows a largely positive picture. Schools are reinforcing both rules and educational actions to promote a conscious use of technologies.
Data
The data show a very broad uptake of the measures on banning mobile phone use in the classroom: more than 90% of schools have already included it in their acts and regulations. Alongside the rules, a strong educational investment emerges: more than two out of three schools have activated dedicated civic education modules and organised seminars with experts, while more than half are promoting specific projects on smartphones and social networking. Also on the content side, more than two thirds of schools work on the safe use of digital devices and more than half address the issue of fake news.
The families
The commitment to involving and informing families is also very significant. On the innovation front, almost 97% of schools have already adopted or are in the process of adopting Artificial Intelligence Guidelines. Moreover, among the tools considered most useful by schools, about 80% indicate educational paths for students, over 70% teacher training and about two out of three schools provide information materials for students and families.
