"The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, after consulting the Interministerial Committee for the Security of the Republic, today appointed Bruno Valensise as the new director of the Information and Internal Security Agency (Aisi), with his mandate starting on Friday 19 April," the Presidency of the Council of Ministers announced.
"The appointment by the Council of Ministers of Bruno Valensise as head of Aisi rewards the competence, experience and knowledge of a neuralgic sector for the country such as intelligence, acquired in the field, also as deputy director of Dis, the Department of Information for Security. The government is making a choice with a different profile and in continuity. I would like to congratulate and wish Dr. Valensise every success in his work, while at the same time thanking Prefect Mario Parente for the way in which he has honoured his important and delicate role over the years,' says Forza Italia senator and vice president of the Senate, Licia Ronzulli. Ronzulli is echoed by Maurizio Gasparri: 'Good work to Dr. Bruno Valensise, the new director of Aisi. A choice, that of the government, which rewards competence and professionalism. From Valensise we expect a further commitment of great quality after what he has already demonstrated in the field in recent years,' says the president of Forza Italia senators.
Valensise was successively appointed Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, an honour he received on 27 December 2009, Officer of the same Order (appointed 2 June 2013), and then Commendatore (appointed 2 June 2017).
