Nestled in the hills of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park lies the Vallo di Diano, a region that is still little explored, but rich in biodiversity, ancient history and authentic food and wine traditions. This territory comprises five municipalities characterised by varied landscapes, ranging from mountain peaks to the fertile plains crossed by the Tanagro river. Environmental diversity not only sustains an extraordinary biodiversity, but is also the basis of local agricultural production, which includes ancient wheat cultivars, cheeses such as Caciocavallo di Grotta del Cervati and delicacies such as Soppressata and Fagiolo Striato del Vallo di Diano.

One of the distinctive elements of the 'Slow down, Taste the Vallo di Diano' project - which is taking part in the 'Borghi Salute Benessere' call for proposals promoted by the Campania Region and Scabec - is the creation of a territorial network involving restaurateurs, local producers, accommodation facility managers and associations. This network - across five municipalities with San Pietro al Tanagro as the lead partner in addition to Sanza, Sala Consilina, Padula and Teggiano - promotes sustainable and conscious tourism, focused on the enhancement of the wine and food landscape and wellness. A tangible example of this approach is the Cammino del Negro, a ring-shaped itinerary that crosses the mountains surrounding the Vallo di Diano plain. In addition to offering breathtaking views, the walk allows visitors to immerse themselves in local traditions through authentic food and wine experiences and visits to restored mills along the way.

The aim of the project is to offer complete tourist packages that include stays in historic villages, guided nature walks, tastings of local products and wellness activities such as regenerating walks and spa treatments. All this with an ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and respect for local traditions. 'Slow down, Taste the Vallo di Diano' is not only an opportunity for tourists to discover an authentic territory, but also an invitation to enjoy travel experiences that celebrate the beauty of nature and the richness of local culinary traditions.

*Project programmed and financed by the Campania Region for the implementation of widespread actions on regional competitiveness in the national and international tourism market, to be financed by commitments from the Fondo Unico Nazionale per il Turismo - FUNT current part 2023 (Ministerial Decree no. 8019 of 19 April 2023) with co-financing from resources of the Complementary Operational Programme - POC Campania 2014-2020.
