Venezuela, Tajani: 'Luigi Gasperin is free'

After the release of Alberto Trentini and Mario Burlò Tajani reported that work was continuing on the release of the other Italians detained in Venezuela.

Luigi Gasperin, the Italian citizen whose release to Venezuela was announced a short while ago by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, is 'tried but in stable condition'. The Farnesina reported this in a note, adding that the compatriot 'announced that he would like to stay in Venezuela and return to the city of Maturín (Monagas State) where his company is located'.

"Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announces that Italian citizen Luigi Gasperin is definitively free in Venezuela. During the night, the release order that had already been issued but had not yet been implemented by one of the Venezuelan administrations was made enforceable,' the Farnesina explained.

Meanwhile, the US announced the seizure of another Venezuelan-linked oil tanker in the Caribbean. It is the sixth such ship intercepted by the US in recent weeks.
