Versace, Dario Vitale leaves the creative direction: two days ago the closing with Prada
Eight months after his appointment, and two days after the announcement of the closing of the acquisition by the Prada group, Dario Vitale is leaving the creative direction of Versace. This is reported by Wwd. The company has confirmed the exit but has not yet released any official announcement.
Dario Vitale's first - and only - collection for Versace, the one for S/S 2026, had been presented during Milan Fashion Week last September, with mixed reactions due to what was judged to be a great aesthetic distance from the design of Gianni and Donatella Versace. Vitale, who had been Miu Miu's creative director since 2023, had taken over at the helm of the Medusa fashion house last April 1, following the departure of Donatella Versace, who had taken over the creative helm of the brand after the death of her brother Gianni in 1997.
Versace had been taken over by the American group Capri Holdings Limited in 2018, before passing to Prada for $1.3 billion. The deal had been announced last April and closed on 2 December.
