Versilfood starts expansion of Camaiore production centre
New automated lines, increased production capacity and a further step on the growth path based on raw material excellence, innovation and sustainability
Work has begun on expanding the production hub of Versilfungo SpA/Versilfood in Camaiore: an intervention with which the company aims to strengthen its industrial capacity and accompany a new phase of growth.
Specialising in the selection, processing and packaging of mushrooms, fruit and vegetables, Versilfood is celebrating its fortieth anniversary this year. With this expansion, the company aims to quadruple its production capacity. The project involves the construction of a new plant that will allow more advanced process control along the entire supply chain and the start-up of four new fully automated lines.
The expansion also reinforces two central tenets of the company's development path: innovation and sustainability. In fact, the new plant will allow the use of packaging with 100% recycled paper and will be entirely powered by renewable energy, thus integrating production performance and attention to environmental impact.
"This expansion represents a fundamental step in the growth path of Versilfood," says Tommaso Rocca, shareholder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Versilfood. "We have chosen to invest in a project that coherently interprets the company's industrial direction: to increase production capacity without giving up what matters most to us, i.e. absolute quality, process excellence and sustainability. The new plant was created to further strengthen control of the supply chain, support our evolution and consolidate a production model capable of combining innovation, reliability and respect for the product. This project, which also has important positive repercussions for the territory, continues Tommaso Rocca - will also allow us to look to new markets and bring state-of-the-art processes in processing and packaging. The use of 100 per cent recycled paper packaging will not only be a qualitative leap for Versilfood, but an opportunity for the entire sector'.
The expansion of the Camaiore plant will be entirely carried out by Techbau SpA, as Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contractor. "The expansion of the Versilfood production hub," said Andrea Marchiori, CEO of Techbau SpA, "is part of a strategy that integrates industrial vision, innovation and sustainability, principles that guide all Techbau initiatives. In this project, we have chosen to go beyond the role of Epc contractor, investing directly in the operation and accompanying the entire development up to its sale to Versilfood. This approach allows us to guarantee full alignment with industrial objectives, quality control throughout all phases, and solidity to the operation, while strengthening a partnership geared to the creation of long-term value'.
