A unique voyage, an all-Italian project never realised before that will end in the Liguria capital, from where the voyage of the sailing ship that brought Made in Italy all over the world had started. Almost 50 thousand miles travelled, which have taken the Navy ship to touch five continents, 32 countries, 53 ports, 20 of which in Italy. On Navy Day, a big party has been prepared inside the largest Italy Village ever built. A salute by the Frecce tricolori and the overflight of a formation of F35B and Av8B naval aviation aircraft are planned.
The salute of the Frecce tricolori and naval aviation aircraft
A salute by the Frecce tricolori (Italian Arrows) and the overflight of a formation of F35B and Av8B naval aviation aircraft are scheduled. The ceremony will be attended by Head of State Sergio Mattarella, who will be welcomed by Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, Defence Chief of Staff General Luciano Portolano, and Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Enrico Credendino. There will also be greetings from the governor of the Liguria region Marco Bucci, the mayor of Genoa Silvia Salis and the refect Cinzia Torraco. Upon his arrival, President Sergio Mattarella will receive a vocal salute and will review the deployment at sea of the Navy's vessels: Nave Trieste, Nave Vulcano, Nave San Giusto, Nave Morosini, Nave Diciotti, Nave Cavour, Nave Margottini, Nave Chioggia, Nave Tedeschi, Submarine Scirè.
The project promoted Made in Italy in the world
.The project, the brainchild of Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, and supported by Defence and 12 ministries, has combined the traditional training and Naval Diplomacy activities of the Italian Navy's training ship with the promotion of Italian-made excellence, bringing to the world, through the Italian Village, a travelling multi-year mini expo, the culture, history, innovation, gastronomy, science, research, technology, and industry that make Italy a country appreciated everywhere. Also taking part in the ceremony will be the Italian ambassadors of the countries where the sailing ship has moored, registering, stage after stage, a sell-out, from Darwin to Mumbai, from Buenos Aires to Tokyo and Los Angeles. During the World Tour there was also the extraordinary passage to Cape Horn, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Atlantic Ocean. This is one of the most dangerous stretches of sea in the mona due to adverse weather and sea conditions, with strong winds, gigantic waves and intense currents. The passage will take place on 5 April 2024, under the leadership of the commander of Nave Amerigo Vespucci, Captain Giuseppe Lai.
Sailing back to sea in 2026
The Vespucci will arrive in the port of Genoa accompanied by other Navy sailing ships including Stella Polare, Chaplin, Antares, Aquarius, Gemini, Tarantella, Penelope, and two foreign sailing ships: Capitan Miranda of the Uruguayan Navy and Shabab Oman II of the Oman Navy. She will then disembark on the morning of Sunday 15 June to return 'home', to La Spezia, her assigned base, where she will make a work stopover before returning to sea in 2026, for another campaign, again under full sail.
For the Drone show, the sky will come alive with three-dimensional lights
.The celebrations for the end of the World Tour will continue on the evening of Tuesday 10 June at the Parodi Bridge, with TV appointments and more. It will start with a link-up with Bruno Vespa's 'Cinque minuti' programme at 8.30 p.m., with Defence Minister Guido Crosetto as guest. Then "Buon Vento Italia" from 8.30 p.m. to 9.05 p.m., hosted by Antonella Clerici and broadcast live on RAI Uno, which will celebrate the return of Nave Amerigo Vespucci, but will also support the Unesco candidature of Italian Cuisine as a World Heritage Site, a protagonist with Masaf during the World Tour. This will be followed by the narration, hosted by Serena Autieri, of the Vespucci World Tour in video and music, by the "Meravigliosa" orchestral ensemble made up of 250 members of the Armed Forces and Guardia di Finanza bands and the choir of Genoa's "Carlo Felice" Opera House. At 10.20 pm, at the end of the ceremony, Genoa's sky will host the largest Drone Show ever seen in Italy: the show will feature figures over 200 metres wide coming to life in the sky, reflecting on the water of the harbour and creating three-dimensional light effects. Then the fireworks display.
