Viareggio: ran over and killed thief, life sentence demanded for 65-year-old businesswoman Cinzia Dal Pino
Life imprisonment for Cinzia Dal Pino.
This is the request made by Prosecutor Sara Polino in the trial before the Court of Assizes of Lucca against the Viareggio seaside businesswoman accused of killing 52-year-old Noureddine Mezgui by running him over several times with her SUV on 8 September 2024 in the Darsena district of Viareggio (Lucca), after the theft of a bag from the woman's car.
According to the prosecution, Dal Pino 'did not attempt to stop the man, but to attack and overpower him', acting with 'homicidal intent' and with the intention of 'punishing him as a form of private justice', the prosecutor argued in court at the end of the investigation.
At this morning's hearing, the psychiatric report on Dal Pino ruled out mental illness for the woman.
Drawn up by neurologist Stefano Ferracuti of Rome and psychiatrist Renato Ariotti of Bologna, the report had been filed at the end of April. The two professionals were heard in court on Thursday and the court closed the preliminary hearing.
