Video games: from 19 June, it will be possible to apply for the tax credit for 2025
Applications may be submitted until 20 August via the Dgcol platform
Key points
From next Friday, 19 June, it will be possible to submit a preliminary application for a tax credit for the year 2025 in relation to the production of video games of Italian origin. Applications may be submitted until 20 August via the Dgcol platform. The Directorate-General for Cinema and Audiovisual Media will process applications in chronological order, giving priority to those nearing their deadline. Following the necessary checks, the tax credits will then be granted and the relevant sums reserved. Those eligible for the credit must submit a final application for eligibility for the scheme, failing which the entitlement will lapse, within 180 days of the date of first release and in any event no later than 36 months from the publication of the list of beneficiaries. The application must contain, on pain of inadmissibility, theinsurance contract covering damage to the assets specified in Article 2424 of the Civil Code directly caused by natural disasters and catastrophic events occurring on national territory.
Using the platform
The platform provides access to guides to assist users, with a particular focus on how the platform works and on completing:
- personal details of the individual;
- registration of the work;
- application for recognition of Italian nationality;
- advance application for tax credit.
If you encounter any difficulties using Dgcol, you can consult the online guide “Need help?”, or you can submit a support ticket via the dedicated function accessible in the members’ area. You should request “IT support” in the event of technical difficulties and “form support” for assistance with completing forms. When submitting a ticket, you must specify the application code and the issue, as any non-compliant requests will not be considered. The helpdesk is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm and processes requests in chronological order, prioritising cases with upcoming deadlines. The average response time is three working days.
