Vigilante freezes to death at a construction site in Milan Cortina: investigation opened
Pietro Zantonini, a 55-year-old from Brindisi, died on the night of 8 January. The alarm was raised by colleagues
A 55-year-old man from Brindisi, Pietro Zantonini, died in Cortina d'Ampezzo (Belluno) at a construction site of the Milan Cortina Games on the night of 8 January. The call to the 118 emergency services was reportedly made by his colleagues, whom he had asked for help on the phone.
Zantonini was working as a security guard at the ice stadium construction site: he worked in a cage from which he came out every two hours, for reconnaissance. When rescuers arrived, they reportedly tried to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful. His wife lodged a complaint with the Carabinieri, and public prosecutor Claudio Fabris ordered an autopsy of the body.
