Security, Viminale: homicides and feminicides to fall in 2025

Fewer murders and, in particular, fewer femicides. This is what the Ministry of the Interior announces in order to 'offer an overview of voluntary homicides consumed, and specifically those with female victims, in the four-year period 2022 - 2025'.

Data that are being disseminated while the latest news stories recount episodes of violence both between young people - with the stabbing of 18-year-old Youssef Abanoub in a school in La Spezia - and between partners - with the investigation into the murder in Anguillara of Federica Torzullo, whose body was found in her husband's business.

The Ministry of the Interior devotes an in-depth study to feminicides and reports that they fell from 118 to 97 in 2025 (-18%). In particular, '85 were killed in the family/affective sphere, 62 met their death at the hands of their partner or ex-partner'.

Homicides committed by a partner or ex-partner in 2025 show a slight decrease from 72 to 71 (-1%) compared to the previous year, while the related female victims show the same value in both comparison years (62).

This decrease is similar to that of homicides, which fell by 15% last year: from 335 to 286 crimes. Those committed in the family/affective sphere also show a decrease both in the number of events, which fell from 158 to 128 (-19%), and in the number of female victims, which fell from 101 to 85 (-16%).
