Vinitaly and the City takes Calabria by storm: after Sibari, it arrives in Reggio

Vinitaly and the City is coming to Reggio Calabria. Following its success in recent months in Sibari, the spin-off of the event dedicated to wine lovers – held in parallel with Vinitaly in Verona – is now being staged in Reggio Calabria, which will host the event on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th. The event is the result of a partnership between Veronafiere and the Calabria Region (with the participation of Arsac and the Municipality of Reggio Calabria).

As was also the case at the Sibari Archaeological Park, the event in Reggio Calabria will focus on the link between culture, archaeology, traditions and fine wines. These two events cement Vinitaly and the City’s status as one of the highlights of the Calabrian summer and help to promote the region’s image in the markets, particularly with a view to wine tourism.

“The enthusiasm and extraordinary turnout seen in Sibari,” commented the Regional Councillor for Agriculture, Gianluca Gallo, “confirm the success of a project that continues to grow and effectively promote Calabria’s image. We are now ready to take on a new challenge with the first edition of Vinitaly and the City Reggio Calabria, an event that will bring great Italian wine to a setting of extraordinary charm, where history, culture and identity intertwine with our region’s finest wines.”

“Following the success in Sibari,” added the President of Veronafiere, Federico Bricolo – the debut of Vinitaly and the City in Reggio Calabria marks a new step in the growth of a format which, having originated in Verona, is proving its ability to take root in symbolic locations across the country, promoting wine through dialogue with culture, history and the landscape. This achievement stems from our strong partnership with the Calabria Region, which over the past three years has enabled the project to continue to grow. The Falcomatà seafront, known as ‘Italia’s most beautiful kilometre’, will provide a stunning backdrop for showcasing the region’s wine production and identity. Furthermore, Reggio’s location, overlooking the Strait and very close to Messina, broadens the initiative’s reach: we expect participation from Sicily too, in a wine festival capable of symbolically uniting the two shores.”
