Virginia Giuffre, who had accused Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew of sexual abuse, committed suicide. This was announced by the woman's family. The 41-year-old American took her own life at her home in Australia. 'She committed suicide on her farm after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and trafficking,' relatives said.

Giuffre had accused the late disgraced US billionaire of using her as a sex slave. Britain's Prince Andrew, for his part, has repeatedly denied allegations that he abused her when she was 17 years old and managed to avoid prosecution by paying a multimillion-dollar settlement.

"Eventually the weight of the abuse was so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle it," added the woman's family, remembering her "incredible courage and loving spirit". Giuffre leaves behind three children: Christian, Noah and Emily. Her lawyer Sigrid McCawley said that Giuffre had been a 'dear friend' and a champion for the other victims: 'Her courage pushed me to fight harder, and her strength was impressive'.

The investigation that followed his complaints uncovered a veritable system of sexual abuse and exploitation with which numerous other VIPs from all over the world allegedly came into contact. Initially there was also talk of a presumed involvement of US president Donald Trump, but his name did not come up in the investigation papers.
