VOIhotels doubles its presence in Cervinia and expands abroad: a new resort in Zanzibar and investments totalling 112 million
Alpitour World’s hospitality division is expanding its portfolio and aims to enhance the value of a number of properties in Sicily and Cape Verde. Turnover for 2026 is expected to reach 245 million euros
Key points
From the Italian mountains to Tanzania, VOIhotels is expanding and adding to its portfolio with new properties aimed at strengthening its position in the leisure and high-end segments. Starting in Italia, Alpitour World’s hospitality division is focusing on the mountains – an area currently enjoying a resurgence in popularity – and on luxury.
The second stage in Cervinia
Through its premium brand VRetreats, the group has decided to double its presence in Cervinia by signing a long-term management agreement for a newly built hotel due to open in autumn 2027: comprising 48 accommodation units, the residential component will be integrated with the hotel services. At the same time, the division is expanding across the country, focusing on enhancing properties with untapped potential: from the refurbishment of the Mazzarò Sea Palace in Taormina and the VOI Arenella in Syracuse, to the Donna Camilla Savelli in Rome, the VOI Tanka Village in Cagliari and the VOI Florio in Cinisi.
The new resort in Zanzibar
But VOIhotels is also expanding abroad, where the group has invested over 15 million in the development of a resort in Zanzibar, the Sandies Nungwi Beach, situated on the island’s northern coast. With 125 rooms and an architectural design that highlights the interplay between Stone Town’s Arab heritage and Swahili tradition, the resort is already operational and forms part of the VOIhotels portfolio under a long-term management contract. Although the geopolitical context has put the brakes on some destinations such as Egypt or the Middle East, the strategy of the division led by Paolo Terrinoni continues unabated and is focused on the potential of other destinations. “International growth is the group’s real growth driver: by integrating tour operating, transport and hospitality, we can position ourselves in destinations more efficiently,” explains Terrinoni. “We have had a presence in Zanzibar for some time, which is why the opportunity to develop a project in Nungwi, in one of the island’s most prestigious areas, has taken on particular significance”.
Investments in excess of 100 million
Outside Tanzania, VOIhotels aims to maintain a strong position in other core destinations such as Madagascar and the Maldives, where there has been no slowdown in tourist numbers. The focus is also on Cape Verde, where VOIhotels has invested 30 million to completely refurbish one of its historic resorts: the VOI Vila Do Farol, with over 300 rooms, two restaurants, a spa and a comprehensive organisational structure, set to reopen next October. The division’s strategy remains geared towards long-term management and lease models, whilst not ruling out targeted acquisitions where opportunities for value creation arise. “2026 is expected to close with a turnover of around 245 million,” concludes Terrinoni, “a growth figure also underpinned by the investments made, which, since 2024, now total 112 million.”
