Volvo XC60 long-range plug-in hybrid: electric range now extends to 200 kilometres

The peace of mind that comes from travelling in a car with a petrol tank, combined with the ability to drive in electric mode all week long. The Volvo XC60 plug-in hybrid is a game-changer when it comes to range, thanks to the 200 kilometres achievable with the Long Range version of the 356 cavalli T6, whilst the more powerful 461 cv T8 version has a range of 189 km. This extended range is made possible by a lithium-ion battery with a gross capacity of 41.2 kWh (37.9 kWh net), which is almost twice the size of previous models. The battery’s positioning has changed; it is now integrated directly into the car’s floor pan rather than under the boot. Both versions are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine (180 cv in the T6 and 250 cv in the T8) combined with a rear-mounted electric motor delivering 177 cv and 309 Nm, and hybrid all-wheel drive (AWD). In terms of performance, the 0–100 km/h sprint takes 5.7 and 4.8 seconds respectively, whilst the top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h, in keeping with Volvo tradition. Orders are already open, with production due to start in the autumn and prices starting at around 67,000 euros.

Not only extended range, but also a refresh to the car’s styling and in-car features. It features a redesigned front end with new ‘Thor’s Hammer’ Matrix LED headlamps, a refreshed interior with Scandinavian-inspired materials, and an 11.2-inch infotainment system based on Volvo Car UX and integrated with the Google Gemini voice assistant.

Volvo Cars will become the exclusive distributor for Lynk & Co in Europe from January 2027. The agreement aims to strengthen Lynk & Co’s presence in the European market by utilising Volvo’s sales network, dealerships and after-sales service.
