The word has not yet been written on the doping case involving Jannik Sinner. In fact, the time available to the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) to lodge an appeal against the acquittal of the Italian player, number 1 in the Atp ranking, decided by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (Itia) after he tested positive for minimal quantities of clostebol in two tests in March, has not yet expired. The Wada, in fact, requested further documentation from Itia concerning the Sinner case decision. And a subsection of Article 13.2 of the Wada Anti-Doping Code, 13.2.3.5, grants the agency the possibility of running the 21 days within which to appeal from the moment it has received the additional documentation. Contacted today by LaPresse on the Sinner case, the Tas made it known that 'at the time of writing, the Court of Arbitration for Sport has not registered any appeal by Wada in relation to this matter. The Tas cannot comment on the deadline for lodging an appeal and whether or not it has expired. Only the body that issued the decision can confirm whether the deadline has passed'. According to LaPresse, the Wada currently still has 10 days to appeal to Tas. The timeframe could be further extended if the Wada submits a new request for documentation on the case.
