Wanda Nara: no maintenance payments from her ex-husband Mauro Icardi
The Court of Milan has rejected the woman’s claim for a divorce settlement of 100,000 euros a month and for monthly maintenance of 250,000 euros.
Footballer Mauro Icardi has another reason to ‘raise a glass’ – as he himself commented in an Instagram story –: after announcing yesterday, Thursday 8 October, that his divorce from Wanda Nera had been finalised, news emerged that the footballer will not have to pay maintenance to his ex-wife. This was decided by the Ninth Civil Division of the Court of Milan. Following her separation from the Argentine, she had in fact requested a divorce settlement of 100,000 euros a month, as well as maintenance payments of 250,000 euros a month.
Nara had justified her claims by arguing that, following the marriage, she had sacrificed her artistic career for the sake of her family and her two daughters. The judgement expressly states that ‘this claim has not been proven’ and that, consequently, the conditions for obtaining compensatory maintenance do not exist: her marriage to Icardi, at the time a player and captain at Inter, had a positive impact on the Argentine’s profile and was certainly not the cause of any imbalance in income between the two former spouses. As evidence of this, the judges reviewed Wanda Nara’s professional activities during the marriage: from her appearance on *Tiki Taka* in 2018 to *Big Brother VIP*, through to subsequent television engagements in Argentina, hosting *MasterChef Argentina*, her music career and *Dancing with the Stars*. Not to mention, of course, the role she played in managing her husband’s sporting career and image rights.
The conclusion is clear: ‘Nara has not made any professional sacrifices that require compensation in this case.’ Both the claim for maintenance and the claim for a divorce settlement were dismissed, and the Argentine woman was also ordered to reimburse two-thirds of the legal costs.
