Exchanges of drone attacks between Ukraine and Russia during the night between Thursday and Friday. The Ukrainian army is reported to have struck numerous petrochemical plants located more than 1,200 kilometres from the border between the two nations. This is reported by Russian media channels on Telegram, as reported by Kiev Independent. According to the reports, Ukrainian drones struck the TogliattiKauchuk petrochemical plant in the Russian region of Samara in the early hours of the morning, causing a fire at the facility.

Photos and videos posted on social media appear to show long-range drones flying over the city prior to the attack. Shortly afterwards, a massive fire was also spotted at the Nizhnekamskneftekhim synthetic rubber plant in the city of Nizhnekamsk (Nknk). A thick column of black smoke rose over the city following the attack. Nknk, located in the Republic of Tatarstan more than 1,200 kilometres from the nearest point on the border with Ukraine, is one of the largest petrochemical companies in Eastern Europe. The plant has previously been targeted by Ukrainian groups, the most recent attack taking place in May. Regarding the number of attacks, the Ministry of Defence in Moscow stated this morning that it had shot down 231 Ukrainian drones over sixteen oblasts (regions) of the Russian Federation.
There were also casualties: two civilians were killed in an artillery attack attributed to Ukrainian forces yesterday in Suzemka, a Russian village in the Bryansk border region, according to a statement on Telegram by the acting governor of the region, Yegor Kovalchuk. Two other people were injured, he added.
Russian drone attack in Sumy leaves one woman dead
A drone attack carried out by the Russians during the night has resulted in one death in the Sumy Oblast, in north-eastern Ukraine. This was reported in the early hours of Friday by the head of the regional military administration, Oleh Hryhorov. ‘The enemy launched a massive drone attack on civilian infrastructure’ in Shostka, he wrote on Telegram, adding that ‘a 44-year-old woman was killed’. Another woman, aged 33, sustained serious injuries, according to Oleh Hryhorov, who added, without providing further details, that the attack had severely damaged a three-storey non-residential building.
In addition, a major fire broke out following a Russian drone attack on infrastructure in the Boryspil district of the Kyiv region. This was reported by the Ukrainian emergency services, who stated that the flames affected an area of 2,000 square metres. In addition to rescue workers from Kyiv itself, specialist equipment was also brought in from Boryspil Airport.
