Webuild: complaint lodged with Consob over “false news” having a “distorting” effect on the share price
Company reiterates: ‘No request for additional costs’
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Webuild has lodged a complaint with Consob pursuant to Article 185 of the Consolidated Law on Finance, in relation to the article published by *Il Fatto Quotidiano* entitled ‘Major infrastructure projects: Webuild now wants 22 billion in additional costs’. The article, explains a statement, “contains manifestly false and entirely unfounded claims, disseminated in such a way as to have a significant and distorting effect on the Group’s share price, which immediately fell in direct conjunction with the publication”. The company will consider all appropriate measures to protect its reputation and the normal trading of its shares on the stock exchange, through the relevant channels. Contrary to what has been reported, the statement emphasises, Webuild is not, nor has it ever been, a “de facto monopolist of major contracts” — a claim devoid of any factual basis. The company has not made any ‘claim for additional costs’: it has sent formal, confidential communications to the relevant authorities regarding contractual obligations that have already fallen due — claims for work carried out and certified, reimbursement of costs already incurred, and contractual advances provided for by law.
Shares on the Milan Stock Exchange (FTSE MIB -0.9%) fell by 6.68 per cent to 2.04 euros.
