Weinstein has been sentenced again to 15 years’ imprisonment for sexual assault

Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, 74, has been sentenced once again to 15 years in prison in New York for the sexual assault of a former production assistant, following eight years of legal turmoil. The founder of Miramax Studios had been sentenced to 23 years in prison in 2020 for the offence committed against Miriam Haley in 2006. However, an Appeal Court overturned the verdict in 2024 on procedural grounds: in June 2025, the court found him guilty once again, and the sentence was handed down today, marking a significant milestone in the New York chapter of the legal saga that sparked the global #MeToo movement.
