Who is Piazza, the Legazian who wished Schlein to be run over at the rally
Lombardy councillor of the Lega Lombarda, Debora Piazza has come under fire after her shocking words against Schlein
A campaign finale tainted by verbal violence. Evoking it on social media, wishing the worst to Elly Schlein in the wake of the mad investment that took place in Modena last Saturday, is a Lombardy councillor of the League, Debora Piazza.
Unmistakable words, hers, even if she does not quote the Pd secretary: 'Don't we have someone driving with depression problems unemployed who offends Christians passing by and does us a favour? The leghista writes this on Facebook commenting on Schlein's rally in Lecco, one of the 749 municipalities that will go to the vote between Sunday and Monday. Words that refer to the events in Modena, where the Egyptian-born bomber Salim El Koudri plunged into the crowd with his Citroen, injuring eight people.
Lecco is close to Barzanò, the village of 5000 souls where Piazza, a member of the party since 2020, represents the Carroccio. He is also the regional head of the League's animal welfare department, whose Facebook profile he fills with photos of the Pontida meadow. His comment runs fast on the web, and raises a storm. An apology is not enough: 'It was not my intention to wish harm to anyone or to fuel political hatred,' she justifies herself shortly afterwards. The League suspended her from all posts.
The political experience
Born in 1978, Debora Piazza lives in Brivio - a village of 4,345 inhabitants a few kilometres from Lecco - and is the mother of a teenager. The Leghista is in opposition in the municipality of Barzanò. In addition to representing the Carroccio as a councillor, Piazza also holds the role of head of the Lega per il benessere degli animali department. Two passions that emerge from her social profiles, from selfies with the party leader Matteo Salvini to photos of dogs and cats.
