It was the solution considered the most probable and in the end the government opted for the internal choice: Vincenzo Carbone, until now deputy director at the Revenue, is the successor to Ernesto Maria Ruffini who had dismissed last 13 December. This was decided by the Council of Ministers at the proposal of the Ministry of the Economy.
Thirty years' experience in the Agency
.Born in 1963, Carbone, three children, history enthusiast and Napoli fan, comes to the top after a long internal journey in various operational areas, which led him to become Deputy Director of the Agency in October 2024. Today the move to the top step. Having graduated in Law and qualified as a lawyer, he joined the Financial Administration in 1990. In 1999 he won the competition for 162 managers at the Ministry of Finance and since the early 2000s, following the establishment of the Tax Agencies, he has held numerous management positions at the Revenue Agency, both at central and regional level.
Leading the Litigation Office
.In particular, since 2005 he has headed the Tax Litigation Office at the Central Directorate for Legislation and Litigation, where he later also took on the position of Head of the Registry Office. Since 2006, he has been head of the Analysis and Research Office at the Campania Regional Directorate. From 2009 and until 2014, he held the position of Head of the Corporate and Financial Tax Office at the Lazio Regional Directorate. Subsequently, from 2014, he moved to the helm of the provincial directorates I and II in Rome. The first top position, as central director of Large Taxpayers and International, comes in 2020. This was followed, in 2022, by his appointment as Central Director Large Taxpayers and International with the function of Assistant Taxpayers Division Chief.
Coordinator of the implementation of tax reform
.In July 2023, in view of the experience and technical knowledge acquired during his long professional career in all areas of the Inland Revenue Agency's operations, he was assigned a new top management position to coordinate activities aimed at implementing the Tax Reform. In February 2024, he took on the role of Deputy Head of the Taxpayers Division of the Agency and has been Deputy Director of the Revenue Agency since October 2024.
The good relations with the deputy minister
