With Highline the rooftop walk in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele
250 metres of catwalks suspended 40 metres above the ground and a panoramic terrace overlooking Piazza del Duomo, for Milan's striking sky walk
In the heart of the city, suspended over the rooftops of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, a skywalk reveals unexpected perspectives and breathtaking scenery to the Milanese. The protagonist of this surprising novelty is Highline Milano, which with its project, led by a team of under-35s, from 7 February offers this skywalk capable of projecting the Lombard capital among modern cities, which look to heights and their skylines as unexplored resources to be made finally usable.
At the top of the itinerary, the Clock Room hosts the exhibition Il cuore di Milano tra passato presente e futuro (The heart of Milan between past, present and future), which, in addition to period photographs from the Italian Touring Club Historical Archive, traces through sepia-toned images the various phases of the construction and reconstruction of the symbolic structure connecting Piazza Duomo to Piazza della Scala, contemporary interpretations of the Gallery by young artists from the Brera Academy.
Galleria Vittoorio Emanuele
"Milan was born with a major project to redevelop the spaces above the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele from Piazza della Scala to Piazza Duomo. The elevated walkway leads us here, to the Hall of Clocks. A space, in fact, that has never been open to the public, which is now home to this incredible exhibition. The heart of Milan between past, present and future. The Italian Touring Club provided historical materials for the realisation of this exhibition,' explains Flavio di Renzo, Art director and Art curator, who then adds, 'in particular, the ten shots were submitted to the students of the Brera Academy, reinterpreting them with different languages.
250 metres of walkways suspended over the rooftops and here, at a height of 40 metres, the panoramic terrace overlooking the Piazza del Duomo: the Sky Walk offers this to the Milanese and beyond.
