The Opera Festival at the Arena di Verona kicks off with *La Traviata*
The Summer Fest at Rome’s Parco della Musica; the LatinFestival in Milan and the traditional “Concerto per Milano” in Piazza Duomo
The festival season is now in full swing. At the Arena di Verona, we have reached the 103rd Opera Festival, which opens with “La Traviata”. At Rome’s Parco della Musica, specifically in its open-air Cavea, the Roma Summer Fest is kicking off and will run until September. Milan’s LatinFestival is a hub for Latin American music, culture and cuisine. The free “Concerto per Milano” returns to Piazza Duomo, featuring the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Riccardo Chailly.
The 103rd Opera Festival opens at the Arena on the 12th with *La Traviata*, set at the Moulin Rouge; starring the young Martina Russomanno (also on 20 June, 5 and 9 July), a debutante at the Arena with several awards to her name; she will be joined by two sopranos already acclaimed at the Amphitheatre as Violetta Valéry, namely Gilda Fiume (13, 27 June) and Rosa Feola (from 6 August); Vasilisa Berzhanskaya, who has already proven herself in demanding roles ranging from Rossini to Norma, will make her debut in the title role on 16 and 31 July. The festival comprises 52 performance evenings. In addition to the opening performance of La Traviata, the programme will continue with five further operas, running until 12 September. Returning titles include ‘Aida’, ‘Nabucco’, ‘La Bohème’ and ‘Turandot’, directed by Zeffirelli.
