Under the impetus of the NRP in the five-year period 2024-2028, the employment needs of Italian companies and public administrations could fluctuate between 3.4 and 3.9 million, depending on the macroeconomic scenario considered. From the use of the funds of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan alone, which, in the event of full implementation of the investments, is estimated to generate a total of about 970,000 jobs, considering both direct and indirect effects and induced effects.
The bulk of recruitment for finance, trade and tourism, education and culture
The sectors that will benefit most from recruitment are expected to be 'finance and consulting' (with 23% of the overall employment impact of the NRP), 'trade and tourism' (21%), 'education and culture' (12%), 'construction and infrastructure' and 'other public and private services' (both with 10%). Most of the demand - just over 3 million - will be determined by the need to replace workers leaving the labour market (78% of the need in the positive scenario and 88% in the negative one), while the growth in the employment stock between 2024 and 2028 will be between 405 thousand and 832 thousand.
This is the picture brought to light by the July update of the report on 'Forecasts of employment and professional requirements in Italy in the medium term (2024-2028)', drawn up by the Excelsior information system and produced by Unioncamere in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour.
Lombardy and Lazio the two regions with the most recruitments
The region that is most affected by the employment impact is Lombardy, which is projected to express over 18% of the entire national requirement of the positive scenario - with an expected requirement of 709,000 employees - followed by Latium (391,000, 10.1% of the total), Veneto (326,000, 8.4%), Emilia-Romagna (325,000, 8.4%) and Campania (312,000, 8.1%).
Migrants' contribution is important
.An important contribution will come from immigrant workers: from the private sectors for the next five-year period a need for 640,000 is estimated, especially in agriculture (35%) and industry (28%), while at the supply chain level the needs of 'fashion' (45.7%), 'mobility and logistics' (33%), 'agri-food' (32.1%), 'wood and furniture' (29.9%) and 'construction and infrastructure' (29.4%) will be particularly relevant.
