Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini triumphed again in Paris. The Italian Olympic champions won the title at Roland Garros, beating Anna Danilina/Aleksandra Krunic in the women's doubles final of the Paris slam in three sets with the score of 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.
The Italian pair thus won their second consecutive title after the one at the Internazionali d'Italia. It is their second Slam final in a row at Roland Garros: last year they lost to Katerina Siniakova and Coco Gauff.
On the major circuit, the two women have won seven titles, including Olympic gold on clay in Paris in 2024, and four WTA 1000s. In her career, Errani has won 34 doubles titles on the WTA circuit, Paolini eight. Errani, in her tenth career final in women's doubles in the majors, completed the Career Grand Slam with Roberta Vinci. Together they have won five trophies: 2012 Roland Garros, 2012 US Open, 2013-14 Australian Open and 2014 Wimbledon. So today's is the sixth Slam for her in doubles. For Paolini it is her first.
Paolini in this edition of Roland Garros also triumphed in mixed doubles with Andrea Vavassori. She is the first to win the trophy in both specialities at Roland Garros since 2015, when the American Bethanie Mattek-Sands succeeded.
Errani moved: Paris is the most important camp in the world
It is a visibly moved Sara Errani who addresses the public in Paris after her doubles victory with Jasmine Paolini at Roland Garros: 'For me it is really very difficult, first of all congratulations to our opponents - her words - Thank you all for being here, for me this is the most important court in the world, I have my most precious memories here. Thanks to Amelie Mauresmo, we always feel comfortable despite the days away from home. Thanks to Jasmine for her positive energy, I am happy to share this joy with her. We are lucky to have a team like ours in our lives. Winning a Slam is exceptional, thanks also to my family and the cheering that has been here in Paris. We'll see what the future will bring'. Sara Errani had also triumphed in Paris just a few days ago in the mixed doubles with Andrea Vavassori.
