Last night, however, an accident occurred in which a 47-year-old worker was killed after being crushed by a street-sweeping machine in the Romanina district of Rome. The man, it is understood, was run over by the vehicle, which, for reasons currently under investigation, tipped over onto its side. The Carabinieri were at the scene to carry out the necessary investigations.

An accident at work occurred this morning in San Benedetto Po, in the province of Mantua. A 45-year-old Chinese worker, resident in San Benedetto Po, was carrying out maintenance work on a roof at a farm when, following a sudden illness, he fell from a height of approximately 4 metres and went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics from the 118 emergency service attended the scene, resuscitated the 45-year-old man and subsequently transported him by air ambulance to Mantua General Hospital as a code red case, in a life-threatening condition. Officers from the local Carabinieri station and staff from the Local Health Authority (ATS) were also present at the scene.

There has also been a serious accident at work during the night at the Bentivoglio freight village in the Bologna area. A 35-year-old Egyptian worker fell from a forklift truck he was operating after it collided with the wall of a warehouse belonging to a company providing national and international courier services. The man was taken to the Maggiore Hospital in Bologna in a moderately serious condition. Carabinieri from Malalbergo and Minerbio attended the scene to carry out an investigation.
