Paris mobilises over 11,000 agents

Ahead of the final, to be held in the US, police are mobilising 11,500 officers in the Paris metropolitan area to prevent possible unrest. According to police chief Laurent Nuñez, the officers have been deployed ahead of the match and Monday's Bastille Day celebrations, a time when riots have occurred regularly in the past. He told broadcaster BFMTV that some 2,000 fireworks had already been confiscated during 300 police operations before the match and that a dozen people had been arrested.

In Paris, the police banned the setting up of a fan zone and the large-scale live broadcast of the final. Gatherings on the Champs-Élysées have also been banned, and Place de l'Étoile and Place de la Concorde will be completely closed to car and pedestrian traffic on the evening of the match. This is also due to the preparations already underway for Monday morning's military parade on the occasion of the Storming of the Bastille. The robust police presence and extensive and severe restrictions are mainly due to the excessive celebrations following Psg's Champions League triumph in June. There were 563 arrests across the country, 491 of them in Paris, where buildings were damaged and shops looted.
