World Environment Day, here are the initiatives for the planet
From events organised for students in Florence, Rome and Trento to publishing initiatives such as those launched by the Sole 24 Ore group
The United Nations has designated 5 June as World Environment Day with the aim of highlighting the importance of protecting and preserving the environment and the impact it has on the well-being of peoples and economic development. June 5 was established by the UN to commemorate the 1972 Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment at which the United Nations Environment Programme took shape: it was first celebrated in 1974 under the slogan Only One Earth. This year's celebrations will take place in the Republic of Azerbaijan and will have as their theme climate change and the actions that can be taken to counter it.
There are several events taking place in Italia. In the meantime, let us take a step back. In Rome, at Palazzo Corsini, an initiative entitled 'Environmental Law, 40 years after the establishment of the Ministry of the Environment' took place on 3 June. The conference analysed the different perspectives that have conditioned the evolution of environmental law in recent decades, in particular with regard to international law, European law and national law in its various fields.
