Wsj: Apple-Intel preliminary agreement on chip production
According to the Wsj, a formal understanding has been reached in recent months
After many rumours, repeatedly reported by Il Sole 24 Ore, the big technology companies concretise their challenge to Nvidia's monopoly by making microprocessors 'in house'. Apple and Intel have reached a preliminary agreement to produce some chips for the Cupertino company's devices. According to the WSJ, talks between the two companies, backed by the Trump administration to bring hi-tech production back to the US, have been going on for over a year and, according to some sources, a formal understanding has been reached in recent months.
It is not yet clear which Apple products Intel will target: Apple markets more than 200 million iPhones per year, as well as millions of iPads and Mac computers. As a result, Apple rose 1.67% on the stock market, while Intel jumped 12.65%.
