Trump insists: ‘I will meet Kim Jong-un this year. He has 57 very powerful nuclear weapons.’
The aim would be to revive the ambitious diplomatic initiative from Trump’s first term to persuade Kim to abandon his country’s nuclear weapons programme
Donald Trump insists that he will meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un this year. This is what the tycoon said whilst speaking at the White House. The Wall Street Journal had reported, citing US officials, that US President Donald Trump is urging his aides to organise a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un as early as this autumn. The aim is to revive the ambitious diplomatic initiative from his first term to persuade Kim to abandon his country’s nuclear weapons programme.
Trump: ‘Kim has 57 very powerful nuclear weapons’
“The fact that I get on well with Kim Jong-un is a good thing. He has 57 very powerful nuclear weapons. We should never have allowed that to happen, but he has them now.” Donald Trump said this whilst speaking at the White House.
Trump has discussed in private the possibility of face-to-face talks with the North Korean leader during his forthcoming trip to Asia: the meeting could take place in November, during the APEC summit in Shenzhen, China.
