Poco has chosen glitzy Dubai to launch the new POCO F6 series. These are two mid/high-end smartphones that wink at the most demanding gamers: the POCO F6 and the Pro version, already available in our country. The technological heart of the two smartphones are the two Qualcomm processors capable of grinding out large amounts of bits, which, combined with a good technical compartment, confirm Poco (and consequently Xiaomi) as one of the manufacturers able to offer products with an excellent quality/price ratio. During the presentation, Angus Ng, Head of Product Marketing POCO Global, drew attention to the potential of the processors, which are able to offer high performance and a superior user experience in a market segment where proposals are somewhat standardised. "With technology evolving at a dizzying speed, the market is demanding increasingly high-performance smartphones at a competitive price. "With the F6 Series, we enhance every aspect that makes a smartphone a flagship model and aim to set a new standard in the industry". , said Ng.

With the POCO F6 Pro, the Xiaomi brand wants to shake up the mid-range market with a sophisticated design and materials that are pleasing both to the eye and to the touch (aluminium frame and glass back cover). The weight is 209g, slightly above the average of its rivals, but the dimensions make it not excessively uncomfortable to use.

Technically powerful, the Chinese company's new smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, known to be the SoC of choice in last year's top of the range devices. Thanks to the processor, combined with the Xiaomi HyperOS operating system based on Android 14, the smatphone is able to ensure fluidity and responsiveness. Memory and storage options go up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

The display is a 6.67-inch AMOLED with 2K resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. This screen, which the company calls 'Flow AMOLED', guarantees a peak brightness of 4,000 nits and uses TÜV Rheinland-certified 3,840Hz PWM dimming technology to reduce eye fatigue.

On the camera front, the Chinese brand, which in the past has not excelled in imaging innovations, has put the bar back in the opposite direction, taking the user experience of the Pro to the next level. We are in the presence, in fact, of an advanced setting that includes a main camera with a 50MP Light Fusion 800 sensor, made by Xiaomi in collaboration with Omnivision, optically stabilised (OIS) and accompanied by an f/1.6 aperture lens, an 8MP wide-angle secondary camera and a final 2MP macro sensor. The dedicated selfie camera is 16MP. The Dual Native ISO Fusion sensor takes care of the image capture, allowing the capture of a clean signal even in high contrast situations, with a maximum exposure difference of up to 16 times. While the Imaging Engine algorithm has been re-engineered to enable optimised loading and calculation speed and to shoot bright images even at night.

Powering the POCO F6 Pro is a powerful 5,000mAh battery, and the 120W HyperCharge fast-charging technology allows the device to be fully charged in just 19 minutes, a distinct advantage for those who live a life on the move. On the update POCO F6 Pro promises 3 major updates and 4 years of security patches, valid until Android 17.

POCO F6: less, but not too much

At the heart of the POCO F6 is the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a processor designed to deliver high-end performance that sits only slightly below the Pro model's chip, offering smooth performance, even in gaming. Just in gaming, the F6 promises the most complete gaming experience ever thanks to WildBoost Optimisation 3.0 technology, an internal algorithm that even pushes the popular (and energy-intensive) Genshin Impact game to support 1.5K resolution. In addition, POCO, in order to eliminate the annoying feeling of heat when the device is under stress, unveiled the latest LiquidCool 4.0 technology, a system that improves the flow of vapor and liquid circulation to eliminate and greatly improve heat dissipation (also present in the PRO version).

Compared to its 'big brother' Pro, the 6.67-inch AMOLED display loses a bit in resolution, being 1.5K, but retains a respectable refresh rate (120Hz), a peak brightness of 2,400 nits and can show up to 68 billion colours. Again, there is no shortage of TÜV Rheinland certifications for eye protection,

The camera system of the POCO F6 includes a triple main camera with a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor. The combination of OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) and EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation) would again ensure good quality photos. On the front is an additional camera, this time with 20MP. Equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, it supports 90W charging, reaching 100 per cent charge in about 30 minutes.
