Xiaomi unveils the first models in the SkyNomad range: the N90 Max and N70 Max with range-extender hybrid powertrains
Following the launch of its electric models, the Chinese premium brand is introducing the SkyNomad, a range of models fitted with a turbocharged petrol engine to deliver maximum range. The new Kunlun platform has been introduced, offering modular seating configurations.

The Xiaomi range continues to expand. It is doing so with a new line-up of models that is of strategic importance, not so much for the market segment it will occupy, but for the technology it introduces. Until a few months ago, in fact, the Chinese premium brand was synonymous solely with electric cars, starting with the SU7 saloon. Then came the YU7 SUV; both models are powered exclusively by batteries. Now Xiaomi is changing its strategy and preparing to enter one of the hottest segments of the Chinese market – one that is set to become a key player in the global market too: large range-extended electric SUVs capable of extended range.
Introducing the new SkyNomad range
Tech giant Xiaomi has officially announced the arrival not just of a single model, but of a whole new family of cars known as the SkyNomad. This range will utilise a new platform developed specifically for range-extender vehicles: the Kunlun. But let’s start with the new line-up. The flagship model in the range-extender line-up will be the SkyNomad N90 Max, an SUV over 5.28 metres long that can be configured with either a 5-seater or a 7-seater interior. The car features a 76 kWh battery, two electric motors rated at 210 and 100 kW, and an electric range of over 350 km. A more compact model, the N70 Max, will also be launched; it is just under 5 metres long and available with 52 or 76 kWh batteries, offering an electric range of up to 380 km.
