Mosquito&Pulp, the podcast challenge that changes the way politics is communicated

A packed social theatre in Trento welcomed Fedez and Mr Marra, who with Giuseppe Cruciani and David Parenzo talked about their respective podcasts during the event 'Zanzara & Pulp: podcasts, freedom, strong opinions'.

An opportunity to talk about new languages, freedom of expression and a new way of telling politics, just as Fedez and Marra did with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who spoke last March in an episode of their Pulp Podcast that garnered 1.9 million views, but also much criticism.

"Fedez and Mr. Marra have created something that was not there before, two people from outside the world of politics who manage to bring the premier to the podcast," said Cruciani, introducing some video clips of Meloni's participation. 'The political section of Pulp becomes the battering ram of a change,' explained Fedez, 'because in this country for twenty years now the containers of political communication have not changed. The salons are always the same, the language is always the same, the protagonists idem', while with Marra 'we have approached politics in a different way, out of a real personal interest of our own and, honestly, we don't feel any less'. Because paradoxically 'you get to know more about politicians in interviews by those who are not experts in politics,' added Mr Marra.

In reality, the 'episode with Meloni was outside our format,' the Pulp presenters said, 'but we were offered a 40-minute interview, according to those who criticised us, shouldn't we have accepted? We could not miss an opportunity like this'. And then: 'as soon as the interview with Meloni was over,' Fedez added, 'we contacted Elly Schlein and Giuseppe Conte because we have our own ethics, but it was they who decided not to come'. Between a repartee with Cruciani and Parenzo and jokes on some unusual guests of Cruciani's Zanzara - such as the tiktoker Aurelio Del Regno who sprinkled himself with mayonnaise live in the Radio 24 studios - Fedez then also spoke about the future of Pulp and said he was in contact with some publishers, but without adding other details on the names and possible developments of the format.

Finally, he and Mr Marra showed the Trento audience a preview of some excerpts from an interview not yet aired, the one with Paolo Zampolli, US Special Representative for Global Partnerships, considered 'Trump's man' in Italia, who had announced a lawsuit against Pulp Podcast for 5 million for being cited in connection with the Epstein files.
