Moscow claims to have shot down 239 Ukrainian drones, whilst an attack on Kerch has left four people dead. The heaviest toll has been reported in the Zaporizhzhia region
New escalation of attacks between Russia and Ukraine. In recent hours, bombings, air raids, drone strikes and artillery fire have caused casualties in various regions of Ukraine, whilst a drone attack attributed to Kyiv has caused deaths and injuries on the Kerch Peninsula in Crimea.
According to the Ukrainian authorities, three people have died in the Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions. The head of the military administration for the Dnipropetrovsk region, Oleksandr Ganzha, reported on Telegram that one person had been killed and nine others injured in a series of bombings, drone attacks and artillery strikes that hit three districts in the region. In the Poltava region, the governor Vitali Dyakivnich announced that two people had died following an attack the previous evening. One of the victims died after being admitted to hospital. Thirteen people were injured.
The heaviest toll has been in the Zaporizhzhia region. The head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported that over the past 24 hours Russian forces have carried out 846 attacks against 50 settlements. According to reports by Ukrinform, Russian troops have carried out 34 air raids on the city of Zaporizhzhia and several communities in the region.
The offensive also included 568 drone attacks of various types, mainly FPV (First Person View), against more than 30 settlements, including frontline communities and residential areas. In addition to these, there were four attacks using multiple rocket launchers and 240 artillery bombardments against towns and villages across the entire region.
The most serious attacks struck the city of Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding district, where five people were killed and a further 13 were injured. The regional authorities also received 113 reports of damage to residential buildings, vehicles and critical infrastructure.
