Zeekr 9X: Geely’s premium brand raises the bar

The Chinese take on the luxury car, from Zeekr. The new X9 SUV, due to arrive in Europe by the end of the year or, at the latest, in early 2027 in the six-seater Ultra AWD version, offers a package of technology, comfort and performance capable of competing with European premium brands. Prices have not yet been announced, but are expected to start at around 100,000 euros. Under the bonnet of the X9 lies Super Hybrid technology, an extended-range system that combines two electric motors with a 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. The 900-volt electrical architecture powers a 55.1 kWh battery. The figures are those of a sports car: power output of 897 cv, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and fast charging from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in around 9.5 minutes. Added to this is a total range of 737 kilometres in the combined cycle.

Whilst the engineering focuses on performance, the cabin is designed primarily with passengers in mind. The second row features two individual seats with massage, ventilation and heating functions, whilst a 17-inch OLED screen descends from the roof to transform the interior into a cinema. Rounding off the on-board experience are a Naim audio system with 32 speakers, a built-in fridge, a removable screen for controlling the climate control and infotainment systems as well as the vehicle’s main functions, plus a driver assistance package featuring LiDAR-based systems, Highway Navigation Assist and remote parking. The price of the new 9X has not yet been officially announced, but given its premium positioning, size and technology, it could well exceed the initial threshold of 100,000 euros.

Externally, the 9X boasts imposing lines and proportions. The large vertical grille, the Matrix headlights and the roofline inspired by the world of sailing are its most distinctive features. Three colours will be available at launch, with the option to choose a dedicated Black Pack as well. For Zeekr, which has rapidly expanded its presence in Europe in less than three years, the 9X represents a further step towards growth in the market’s most profitable segments. With the X9, the Chinese manufacturer takes the concept of ‘premium’ into the realm of luxury with a car designed to offer passengers the ultimate in comfort and refinement. The six-seat configuration, featuring two individual seats in the second row, creates a genuine lounge-style atmosphere.
