"TheEuropean law on the restoration of nature and the completion of the Green deal measures do not frighten us; as winegrowers we feel a responsibility to preserve soil fertility, safeguard ecosystems, optimise the positive impact on the community and the environment, as well as a social responsibility towards those who work for us and future generations". Nadia Zenato, owner together with her brother Alberto of the company appreciated in 65 countries thanks to excellent wines such as Amarone, Cresasso, Ripassa, Valpolicella and Lugana, is categorically positive.
"European regulations are challenging, but they offer an extraordinary opportunity for companies to redefine their role in society and actively contribute to the fight against climate change," he explains. "We must become actors of positive and lasting change, because every action we take can make a difference. And Zenato is taking many actions, pointing the way for other wineries. "In the vineyard we have adopted sustainable practices, including biological tools to hinder the reproduction of moths and mealybugs, grassing with wild herbs and ecological areas with woods, hedges and meadows," he says. Since 2023, we have installed four beehives with 250,000 bees that give birth to eight thousand new bees every day and pollinate 120 million flowers, contributing to biodiversity and to the reduction of 330 grams of CO2 per year (the equivalent of two medium-distance aeroplane flights for one passenger)'.
Water and pesticides were reduced with the installation of three Decision support systems, with sensors monitoring humidity and pathogen risks. Water savings were also achieved with new bottling machines. Lightened glass, cartons and crates made of certified wood, massive use of recycling and photovoltaic systems for clean energy complete the picture of a company certified with the Equalitas standard, which follows the Sqnpi integrated pest management regulations and the Biodiversity friend protocol and invests in Visual soil assessment for the study of the physical quality of the soil. "Achieving the 2050 climate objectives is a priority and is also an extraordinary lever for the development of companies and of Made in Italy," concludes Nadia Zenato.
