Several knives were allegedly found and seized at the home of 21-year-old Eithan Bondì, who is accused of firing several shots with a softair, a compressed air gun, at two members of the ANPI on 25 April in Rome's Parco Schuster. The weapon was reportedly not found, but the young man admitted his responsibility. During the night, the Digos of the Rome Police Headquarters stopped him.
The young man was allegedly identified by the number plate of the scooter from which he fired the shots with a soft air gun. The young man detained claimed to belong to the Jewish Brigade.
The shots hit two 60-year-old ANPI militants, a man and a woman, who were not seriously injured.
The arrest was ordered directly by the Chief Prosecutor of Rome, Francesco Lo Voi. The investigation is coordinated by the Capital's anti-terrorism prosecutors. The young man is allegedly a member of the Jewish community. The charge is attempted murder. The charges also include the crime of possession of weapons.
The Jewish Brigade referring to the detention of Eithan Bondì for the 25 April shooting in Rome 'strongly reiterates that it does not know him, does not have among its members any person answering to this name. It also emphasises that it has no representatives or members in the city of Rome'. This was clarified in a note by Davide Romano, director of the Museum of the Jewish Brigade in Milan, 'We also reserve the right to take legal action against all those who use and will use the name of the Jewish Brigade to associate it with this shameful act,' he concludes. 'Violence has never been part of our values and will never represent them
