Signed collective agreement in air transport, +210 euro at 4th level.

Today the National Collective Labour Agreement (Ccnl) for Air Transport, specific part airport operators, was signed for the period 1 January 2025 - 31 December 2027, which involves 10,000 workers in the comparto. This was announced by Assaeroporti.

The agreement, reached between the trade unions Filt-Cgil, Uil trasporti and Ugl trasporto aereo and the employers' associations of airport operators assaeroporti and Aeroporti 2030, represents 'an important step for the professional enhancement and economic recognition of the staff working daily in our airports'. Assaeroporti and Aeroporti 2030 hope that the contract will soon be signed also by Fit-Cisl (but this is not the case, read further on).

The economic part envisages an increase of EUR 210 to the fourth level over the three-year period 2025-2027,a one-off payment of EUR 1,800 for previous periods, as well as an increase in some variable items of the total remuneration, such as the attendance allowance, the Sunday daytime bonus, an additional company contribution to the health insurance policy and the PrevAer pension fund, and, finally, an additional seniority step.

Other highlights of the agreement include: the inclusion of new environmental and social sustainability parameters among the criteria for defining the performance bonus, the provision of protocols for preventing the risk of aggression against staff, the doubling of the period of paid leave for women victims of gender-based violence, and the promotion of new flexible forms of work in order to facilitate the reconciliation of work and life times.

Fit Cisl: we don't sign, we will go on strike

Fit Cisl does not sign the Ccnl contract for air transport, operator section and threatens to strike. "We are not willing to renew contracts in a way that, on the one hand, benefits the companies by giving them a 30-month discount in economic emoluments and, on the other hand, harms the workers in the sector with a strong loss of social security rights, of direct and indirect wages with the logic of 'renew 66 months of the contract and pay 36 months', or pretend that the passage of time is neutral and, after 30 months of unsuccessful contract renewal, wipe them out with a stroke and move the contract's effective date from 1 January 2022 to 1 June 2025, creating considerable and intolerable harm to the workers themselves.

The National Collective Labour Agreement for Air Transport, Managers section, expired on 31 December 2022 and the next expiry date, according to the company proposal, would be set at the end of 2027. It is unfeasible to think of covering such a large period with a renewal that does not offer a corresponding improvement neither on the economic nor on the regulatory level', writes the union in a note.

Fit Cisl's criticism of the economic part

As for the economic part, 'the increases on the minimum wage are insufficient and the one-off sum that should cover two and a half years of the contractual holiday is totally inadequate if we consider the significant profits recorded by the companies in the reference period; the increase in the percentage borne by the companies destined for the PrevAer fund is marginal', Fit Cisl denounces again.

"Entering into the merits of the regulatory criticalities," the Cislin Transport Federation further states, "we point out the failure to grant at least one extra day of holidays, useful to ensure the psychophysical recovery of workers, and with regard to health care, we do not consider the increase in the quota of 10 euros per month to be congruous," the union seal specifies.

Therefore, 'we call on the airport operators to reconsider the proposal, which is far removed from the demands', Fit Cisl adds, threatening to proclaim 'the necessary strikes in the sector'.
