The best pizzeria in the world is in New York, at least according to 50 Top Pizza, the ranking curated by Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro and Albert Sapere, an international reference in a sector where excellence is growing at an alarming rate, disrupting the old idea of pizzerias and undermining the world of traditional catering from which these realities are often somewhat 'snubbed'.
It is "Una Pizza Napoletana" by Anthony Mangieri. In second place ex aequo the couple "Diego Vitagliano Pizzeria" in Naples, and "I Masanielli" by Francesco Martucci in Caserta, both first for 50 Top Pizza Italia 2024 and at the top of last year's world ranking; on the third step of the podium "The Pizza Bar on 38th", in Tokyo, led by Daniele Cason, number one for 50 Top Pizza Asia - Pacific 2024. Fourth position for 'Confine' in Milan, by Francesco Capece and Mario Ventura; in fifth place 'Napoli on the Road in London', by Michele Pascarella. Closing the top five was 'Tony's Pizza Napoletana' in San Francisco, by Tony Gemignani.
"50 Top Pizza is a great community of quality pizza in the world," say the editors. "In 2024, between independent pizzerias and artisan chains, we have 2,500 addresses in the guide; a great pride for us. A pizza product that knows no limits, because it is the most well-known and loved food in the world'. There are 29 countries in the 2024 world ranking: Italy is first with 41 premises, followed by the United States of America with 15 pizzerias. The cities most represented are Naples with 5 venues, followed by New York, Sao Paulo, Milan, Rome and Caserta with 4 venues each.
