I tentativi estremi di rianimare i negoziati tra Usa e Iran

President Javier Milei's party, La Libertad Avanza, won a clear victory in the mid-term legislative elections in Argentina with 40.84% of the vote, according to the first official data. The Peronist coalition Fuerza Patria obtained 24.5% of the vote.
The LLA is also gaining ground in the province of Buenos Aires, the traditional bastion of the progressive Peronists, who only a month ago had knocked out the conservatives' formation.
The low turnout, which stopped at 67.85%, a record figure since the return of democracy in 1983, was one of the elements that worried the ultra-liberal leader, determined to win the numbers needed to accelerate his economic recipe in the Chamber and the Senate. A result that analysts and commentators say leaves no room for doubt - with most of the country's provinces coloured purple (Lla's colour), and the conquest of 64 deputies (against the 31 of the progressives) - that surprises the previous day's polls, which had predicted a head-to-head between Lla, at 36%, and the leftist coalition Fuerza Patria (Fp) at 34%, with a possible tie.
And also celebrating are the United States of Donald Trump, which, faced with strong devaluation pressures, a reserves crisis and a slowdown in economic activity, had come to the aid of Milei with a pledge to support the Argentine peso, by pledging a USD 40 billion aid package, to sustain the executive for the next two years of its mandate.
After his surprising victory in the 2023 presidential election with 56% of the vote, the ultra-liberal arrived at the polls with a level of support that dropped to 38%, a figure that has been interpreted as a growing fatigue among the electorate for his blood-and-guts recipes, which on the one hand managed to contain inflation, which dropped from 200% to 31%, and to ensure fiscal balance, but on the other hand resulted in spending cuts even in sensitive sectors such as education and health.
