Azimut-Benetti strengthens its position in Tuscany with a 100 million development plan
The 44-metre motor yacht Lumina, designed by Cassetta Yacht Designers, has been launched
Demand for superyachts – particularly those over 30 metres in length – continues to grow, and the Azimut Benetti Group, the world leader in this segment, is gearing up to respond to the buoyant market. This is the backdrop to the €100 million investment in production announced yesterday by Chairwoman Giovanna Vitelli at the Benetti shipyard in Viareggio, during the launch of the 44-metre motor yacht Lumina, designed by Cassetta Yacht Designers.
The launch took place using the ‘slipway’, one of the oldest nautical traditions, which Benetti keeps alive thanks to the inclined slipway in operation at its Viareggio shipyard.
The 100 million investment will be self-financed over the three-year period 2026–2028 at the group’s production sites in Tuscany, including Viareggio, Massa and Livorno. After all, Tuscany, with 14 production sites, represents the operational heart of the Turin-based group, which employs 607 people directly in the region (160 more than in 2020) and has invested 77 million in the last three years alone.
The region alone accounts for 70% of the Azimut Benetti Group’s results – which, for the 26th consecutive year, has topped the global rankings of manufacturers of yachts over 24 metres – and which closed 2025 with 1.56 billion in turnover (+15%) and orders worth 2.5 billion euros, covering the period up to 2029.
“We want to respond to a structural shift in demand,” explains Vitelli to *Il Sole 24 Ore*, “which is seeing growing interest in the superyacht segment, and in particular in vessels over 30 metres. The investment plan is a further step in the group’s industrial consolidation.”
