Flooding also occurred in Cecina and Rosignano, in the Livorno area, which had already been hit just on 18 October.

The bad weather and exceptional rainfall is also affecting Liguria, where, in addition to material damage, a man has gone missing in Arenzano, near Genoa: his wife fears that he may have been swept away by a landslide in Via Pecorara caused by the overflow of a torrent. The fire brigade searching for the man found a car plunged several metres under the road into the stream bed.

For tomorrow, the civil protection authorities have assessed an orange alert on some sectors of Piedmont, in Liguria, where some polling stations for the regional vote have been moved to the Savona area as a precaution and spare ones are ready in Genoa, in the Po delta area in Emilia-Romagna; yellow over most of Sardinia and sectors of Valle d'Aosta, Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and Tuscany. In the latter region, in Riparbella, south of Pisa, 120 millimetres of rain fell in three hours.

"By now," said the governor of Tuscany, Eugenio Giani, "we have increasingly secured the large rivers, what we must focus our attention on at the moment is preventing flooding in the small rivers, streams, and brooks that are then the ones that suddenly swell and do the damage like last night.
