The world of finance and banking bids farewell to the banker Fabio Gallia , former CEO of BNL and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, who died suddenly at the age of 60.

The beginnings

.

Born in Alessandria in August '63, he graduated in Economics at the University of Turin and began his career at Accenture. In 1990, he made his real entry into the world of finance when he joined the Turin-based Ersel of the Giubergia group, where he remained for twelve years, taking on roles of increasing responsibility until becoming general manager.

These were the years in which Gaul became a financial manager who was also appreciated for his networking skills.

Banks

.

In 2002 he made the leap into the banking world by joining the Capitalia group, becoming one of the new top managers during the years of the management of CEO Matteo Arpe.

Here Gallia became first managing director of Fineco and then managing director of Banca di Roma. An experience that adds to his CV and places him among the new forty-year-old top managers in a sector that is in the throes of a top management rejuvenation.

The years at BNL

.

The opportunity to lead a large Italian bank arrived in 2008, when he became CEO of BNL, by then passed to the French Bnp Paribas group. In Rome, Gallia settled in well and, although he remained a financial technician, he honed his networking skills by frequenting the 'salons of Rome' in those years, where finance crosses paths with the world of politics and large state-owned companies.

To the top management of Cdp

.

In 2015 Gallia made the big professional leap when the government appointed him CEO of Cdp, forming the top ticket with chairman Claudio Costamagna . These were the years in which Cdp increased its portfolio of 'sensitive' shareholdings, starting with its entry into Tim's capital as an anti-Vivendi move. At the end of his three-year mandate, Gallia is not reappointed.

Those who know him well know that he would have liked to return to the banking world. Surprisingly, however, in 2020 he began what would be his last managerial experience by becoming general manager of Fincantieri for two years. After leaving the post in 2022, he was currently senior advisor to Centerview Partners.
